Avinza 120mg Capsule, is indicate for the relief of moderate to severe pain in patients who require continuous, around-the-clock opioid therapy for an extend period. It is not intend for use as a prn (as-need) analgesic or for mild pain. The 120mg dose is specifically for patients who are opioid-tolerant, meaning they have been receiving, for one week or longer, at least 60 mg oral morphine per day, 25 mcg transdermal fentanyl per hour, 30 mg oral oxycodone per day, or an equianalgesic dose of another opioid.
Dosage and Administration
Avinza capsules should be swallow whole. If a patient has difficulty swallowing capsules, the contents can be sprinkle on applesauce and swallow immediately without chewing. The capsules must not be crush, chew, or dissolve, as this can lead to the rapid release and absorption of a potentially fatal dose of morphine.
